Roads High School College Fair Draws 50+ Universities Wednesday
National Desk
May 12, 2026
The Roads High School will open its doors Wednesday for a college and career fair featuring representatives from more than 50 universities, colleges, and employers, offering The Roads-area students a direct pathway to explore post-secondary opportunities without leaving their community.
The fair aligns with a broader trend in Miami-Dade County Public Schools emphasizing early college access. According to the school board, more than 500 high school students across the district have already earned Associate in Arts degrees before receiving their high school diplomas through dual enrollment partnerships with Miami Dade College. These programs allow students to complete college-level coursework while still in high school, significantly reducing both the time and cost required to earn a degree.
"Students and families should view this as a direct opportunity to learn about financial aid, scholarship options, and early enrollment pathways," said school officials in a statement about the event. The fair will feature representatives from state universities including the University of Florida, Florida State University, and the University of Miami, alongside community colleges and private institutions.
For Roads families already feeling the pressure of rising costs—Florida gas prices recently dropped to $4.40 per gallon statewide but remain elevated—understanding college affordability is critical. The fair will address scholarship opportunities, grants, and work-study programs available to local students.
Wednesday's event also reflects growing emphasis on career readiness among South Florida educators. Employers from various sectors will be present to discuss internship opportunities, apprenticeships, and direct employment pathways for high school graduates.
Family members are encouraged to attend alongside students. For specific details on the fair's time and location at The Roads High School, contact the school's guidance office or visit the Miami-Dade County Public Schools website.
