Palm Coast City Council Approves New Sidewalk Project for Belle Terre Parkway
Palm Coast residents can look forward to improved pedestrian safety along a busy stretch of Belle Terre Parkway. During its regular meeting yesterday, April 7, the Palm Coast City Council unanimously approved a new sidewalk construction project that will connect existing pathways and fill in gaps along the thoroughfare.
The project, estimated to cost $450,000, will focus on the section of Belle Terre Parkway between Royal Palms Parkway and Pine Lakes Parkway in the heart of the Belle Terre neighborhood. This area has long been identified by residents and city staff as needing better pedestrian infrastructure, particularly for students walking to and from nearby schools and recreational spots like the Belle Terre Community Park, and for those accessing local businesses.
City Manager Denise Bevan stated that the funding for the project will come from the city's capital improvement budget, with construction anticipated to begin in late summer 2026. "This is a vital improvement for our community," Bevan commented. "It addresses a long-standing need for safer pedestrian access in a high-traffic area, directly benefiting our families and local commerce."
The new sidewalks are expected to enhance connectivity, encouraging more walking and cycling, and reducing the reliance on vehicles for short trips. Further details regarding construction timelines and potential traffic impacts will be announced as the project moves forward.
