Orlando Spring Break Shatters Records with 7.4M Airport Travelers

National Desk
April 26, 2026
Orlando International Airport (MCO) is navigating its peak spring break period, a 46-day window from late February through April 7, 2026, expecting more than 7.4 million passengers — an 8% jump from 2025's record.[1][2] The busiest stretch hits March 12-16, with Sunday, March 15, forecast for 211,973 travelers, topping daily estimates like 204,852 on March 14 and 199,263 on March 13.[2] Nearly 53,000 flights are slated to operate in and out of MCO during this rush, fueling a tourism boom for Central Florida's hotels, restaurants and theme parks.[1] Florida's tourism engine roared into 2026 off a stellar 2025, when the state welcomed a record 143.3 million visitors, up 0.2% from 2024, Gov. Ron DeSantis announced.[1][4] Domestic travelers dominated at 131.1 million (91.5% of total), with overseas visitors at 9.3 million — including 10.4% growth from Brazil and Argentina — and 2.9 million Canadians.[1] Fourth-quarter 2025 saw 33.5 million visitors statewide, a 0.6% increase, with airport enplanements up 2.8% to 27.4 million across 19 Florida airports.[1] Orlando's Magic City continues its streak, with January 2026 passenger traffic up 3% year-over-year, pushing the rolling 12-month total to 57.8 million.[1] The visitor influx has packed Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando, with spring break crowds driving triple-digit wait times for top rides.[3] At Disney's Hollywood Studios, Slinky Dog Dash and Star Wars: Rise of the Resistance hit 150-190 minutes, while even Tower of Terror topped 90 minutes consistently.[3] EPCOT's International Flower & Garden Festival and new attractions like TRON Lightcycle/Run and Tiana’s Bayou Adventure amplify the draw, selling out park reservations mid-week — a rarity outside holidays.[3] Local hotels report near-capacity occupancy, boosting Orange County's economy as families flood in from across the U.S.
