Oakland Park mourns the loss of Stanley Geffrard, a young resident remembered for his infectious joy, sharp intellect, and unwavering determination to achieve his dreams. Born on August 28, 2002, in Port-au-Prince, Haiti, Stanley was the only son of Lariana Nicolas and Merinel Geffrard, and a cherished brother to his five siblings: Angena, Chantale, Julie, Dianna, and Bitho.

Stanley's journey brought him to the United States in 2022 to reunite with his mother and family. He quickly embraced his new life, enrolling in school to learn English. His remarkable dedication allowed him to achieve near fluency within months of his arrival.

A life rooted in family love

Stanley spent his formative years in Haiti, surrounded by a large, loving extended family. His sisters, aunts, and other relatives played significant roles in his upbringing, ensuring he always felt deeply loved and supported. This strong foundation of family love remained a cornerstone of his life.

Journey to new dreams in America

In 2020, Stanley moved to the Dominican Republic before making the significant journey to the United States two years later. He arrived in America with clear aspirations, notably his dream of becoming a pediatrician. His intelligence and ambition were evident to all who knew him.

Stanley possessed a vibrant personality, characterized by his beautiful smile, quick wit, and the laughter he brought to every gathering. He enjoyed outdoor sports, spending quality time with his loved ones, and engaging in video games, particularly Free Fire. Though he had no children of his own, Stanley shared a profound bond with his niece, Aisha, and nephew, Mevenly, loving them as if they were his own children.
