Newberry High School Announces New After-School Tutoring Program

Newberry High School in Alachua County is launching a new after-school tutoring program designed to provide additional academic support for students. The initiative, set to begin on Monday, April 14, 2026, aims to help students in various subjects, including mathematics, science, English, and history.

The program will run every Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday from 3:30 PM to 5:00 PM in the school library. Certified teachers from Newberry High School will be on hand to offer personalized assistance and guidance. This direct support from familiar educators is expected to create a comfortable and effective learning environment for students seeking to improve their grades or better understand challenging concepts.

Principal Eleanor Vance stated, "We recognize the diverse learning needs of our students and are committed to providing every resource possible to help them succeed. This tutoring program is a direct response to feedback from both students and parents, and we believe it will make a significant difference in academic achievement across the board."

Students interested in participating are encouraged to sign up in advance with their respective subject teachers or directly at the school's main office. While drop-ins will be accommodated if space allows, pre-registration is recommended to ensure adequate staffing and resources for specific subject areas. There is no cost for students to attend the tutoring sessions.

This new program reflects the school's ongoing efforts to enhance educational opportunities within the historic Newberry community and support student success beyond regular classroom hours. Parents with questions about the program can contact the Newberry High School office during school hours.
