New Port Richey High School Athletics Department Receives Generous Donation for Facility Upgrades
New Port Richey High School's athletics department is set to receive a significant boost thanks to a generous donation from the New Port Richey Community Foundation. The foundation announced yesterday, April 7, 2026, a grant of $25,000 specifically earmarked for upgrades to the school's athletic facilities, located at 5540 River Road near the banks of the historic Cotee River.
The funds will primarily be used to improve the aging bleachers at the football and soccer fields, as well as to purchase new equipment for the weight room, which serves all student-athletes. Principal Evelyn Reed expressed her gratitude, stating, "This donation comes at a crucial time for our athletics program. Our facilities are well-used, and these upgrades will directly benefit hundreds of our students, providing them with safer and more modern spaces to train and compete."
According to Mr. Thomas Miller, President of the New Port Richey Community Foundation, the decision to support the high school's athletics was unanimous among the board members. "We believe in investing in our youth and providing them with the best possible resources," Miller commented. "New Port Richey High School's athletic programs foster teamwork, discipline, and community spirit, and we are proud to contribute to their continued success."
The school anticipates beginning the bleacher replacement project over the summer break, with the new weight room equipment expected to be installed by the start of the next school year. Parents and community members interested in learning more about the project or other ways to support New Port Richey High School athletics can contact the school's main office during business hours.
