New Port Richey City Council Approves Funding for Main Street Revitalization Study
New Port Richey City Council members voted unanimously last night, April 12, 2026, to approve a $75,000 allocation for a comprehensive revitalization study of the city's historic Main Street corridor. The decision, made during the regular council meeting at City Hall on Grand Boulevard, aims to breathe new life into the downtown area, cherished for its small-town charm, attracting more businesses and visitors.
The study will focus on infrastructure improvements, aesthetic enhancements, and potential zoning adjustments to foster economic growth along Main Street, from US-19 to the scenic Pithlachascotee River. "This is a crucial step in ensuring our downtown remains the vibrant heart of New Port Richey," stated Mayor Rob Marlowe after the vote. "We want to create a welcoming and prosperous environment for our local businesses and residents alike."
City Manager Debbie Manns indicated that the request for proposals for consulting firms to conduct the study would be issued within the next two weeks, with a projected completion date for the study by late fall. Residents interested in learning more about the project or future public input opportunities are encouraged to visit the city's official website or attend upcoming council meetings.
