MPD Steps Up Patrols in Flagami After Robbery Series
National Desk
May 13, 2026
Miami Police Department officials announced enhanced patrol operations in Flagami this week after a series of three armed robberies targeted convenience stores in the area over a seven-day period, according to reporting from Local 10 News.
The robberies, which occurred at small retail establishments throughout the neighborhood, prompted MPD to redeploy uniformed officers to high-traffic commercial corridors and increase foot and vehicle patrols during peak business hours. Police department representatives said the visible increase in law enforcement presence is designed both to deter potential criminal activity and to provide residents and business owners with a heightened sense of security.
"We are committed to protecting Flagami residents and ensuring the safety of our business community," a department spokesperson said in response to the incidents. Officers have been working with store owners to review security protocols and surveillance footage from the robberies to identify suspects and patterns.
Flagami, bounded by Southwest 8th Street to the north and Southwest 11th Street to the south, remains a densely populated residential and commercial area in southwest Miami. Convenience stores and small retailers serve as vital community anchors and employment centers for local residents.
Police encouraged residents and business owners who witnessed any of the robberies or have information about the suspects to contact Miami Police Department directly. Citizens can also report tips anonymously through Miami-Dade Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477.
The increased patrols are expected to continue through the coming weeks as detectives work to close the cases and apprehend those responsible.
