MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — Three suspects face strong-armed robbery charges after police linked them to six incidents targeting bank customers in South Florida last June. Miami-Dade detectives arrested 25-year-old Amber Dyer, 19-year-old Virgil Lamonte Woodson and 18-year-old Marcel Rashad Johnson following a multi-jurisdictional probe. The trio allegedly followed victims from Bank of America, Chase and Wells Fargo branches, using rental cars with swapped stolen license plates to dodge detection.[1]
In two attacks, victims suffered pistol-whippings requiring medical care. The spree peaked June 2 when Woodson, Dyer and Johnson were spotted staking out bank lots in south Miami-Dade. Around 6 p.m. that day, Johnson targeted a 66-year-old woman returning from Publix near a Bank of America, wrestling her purse away as she unloaded groceries.[1]
A "be on the lookout" alert led officers to a black 2019 Nissan Altima near the 5000 block of Southwest 116th Avenue. The traffic stop detained Woodson and Dyer; a green fluorescent shirt matching the victim's description was found inside. Surveillance showed Johnson discarding the purse and cards beforehand, items later identified by the senior.[1]
Johnson and Woodson face additional battery charges on a person 65 or older. Dyer and Johnson each face one count of strong-armed robbery and conspiracy; Woodson is also charged. Dyer waived her Miranda rights and gave a statement, though redacted in reports; the men declined to speak.[1]
