Maitland Fire-Rescue Leadership: Chief Morton & Deputy Chief Glover Oversee 43 Firefighters

Maitland Fire-Rescue operates under the leadership of Fire Chief Chris Morton and Deputy Fire Chief Richard Glover. They oversee the department's operations, which include 43 firefighters and 4 civilian staff members.

Fire Chief Chris Morton began his career with Maitland Fire-Rescue in 2002 as a Firefighter/Emergency Medical Technician. He became a Paramedic in 2005, an Engineer in 2007, and a Lieutenant in 2009. Morton's progression continued with a promotion to Battalion Chief in 2013, Assistant Fire Chief of Operations in January 2019, and Deputy Fire Chief in August 2019. He assumed the role of Fire Chief in April 2023. Chief Morton holds an associate's degree in emergency medical services from Valencia College and a bachelor's degree in fire science administration from Waldorf University. He also holds Fire Officer 4 and Fire Instructor 3 certifications from the State of Florida, along with the Chief Fire Officer designation from the Center for Public Safety Excellence.

Deputy Chief Richard Glover joined Maitland Fire-Rescue in March 2026. He brings over three decades of experience in fire-rescue, emergency medical services, training, and administration. Before coming to Maitland, Glover served as the Division Chief of Fire Training for The Villages Public Safety Department. He retired from the Orlando Fire Department after 28 years of service, where he held positions as a Firefighter/Paramedic, Engineer, Lieutenant, and District Chief. Deputy Chief Glover earned a Bachelor of Science in Fire Science with an emphasis in Emergency Management from the University of Florida, graduating Summa Cum Laude.
