Local Bird Watchers Report Increased Activity in Cocoa Parks
Cocoa's natural beauty continues to be a draw, not just for residents, but for our feathered friends as well, right here on Florida's Space Coast. Local bird enthusiasts have noted a significant uptick in bird activity across several of Cocoa's beloved green spaces over the past few weeks.
According to avid birder and longtime Cocoa Village resident, Martha Jenkins, who frequents Taylor Park and Riverfront Park, "The variety of species I've seen lately is just wonderful. I spotted a painted bunting near the boardwalk at Riverfront last Tuesday, and the warblers at Taylor Park have been particularly active." Jenkins, a member of the Space Coast Birding & Wildlife Festival organizing committee, encourages fellow residents to take advantage of the pleasant spring weather to observe local wildlife.
While no official census has been conducted, the anecdotal evidence from community members suggests a vibrant ecosystem thriving within city limits. This increased activity provides a fantastic opportunity for families and individuals to connect with nature right here in Cocoa. Grab your binoculars and head to your favorite local park to see what you can spot!
