Little Haiti Cultural Complex loses fourth leader in six years as manager fired
National Desk
May 12, 2026
The Little Haiti Cultural Complex on NW 24th Street lost its manager this week when Dasha Saintremy was fired by the City of Miami Parks Department, according to reporting from WLRN. Saintremy, who was hired in February 2025, had called for an investigation into what she characterized as systemic issues within Parks Department leadership just three days before her termination.
Prior to her firing, Saintremy received two reprimands from department leadership for speaking to members of the media without seeking approval from the city's Office of Communications. Former managers have now alleged that the discipline and termination represent a pattern of retaliation by the Parks Department against LHCC leaders who speak publicly.
Saintremy's departure continues a troubling trend at the cultural landmark. The complex has cycled through four leaders in six years, including former director Sandy Dorsainvil, whose tenure ended amid disputed circumstances. The repeated turnover has left Little Haiti residents uncertain about the future of an institution meant to preserve and celebrate Haitian-American culture and heritage in the community.
The instability at the complex coincides with broader governance questions facing Miami city agencies. While details of specific management disputes remain unclear from official city statements, community advocates have expressed concern that leadership conflicts are undermining the complex's ability to serve residents and fulfill its cultural mission.
The City of Miami Parks Department has not issued a public statement detailing reasons for Saintremy's termination or addressing allegations of retaliation. Residents and cultural advocates have begun calling for transparency about the management decisions that have destabilized the institution over the past six years.
