Kicking Off Hiker Season with Primrose

As the weather warms and the trails beckon, Oviedo residents are gearing up for the official start of hiking season. This year, many are looking to Primrose, a popular local outfitter, for their gear and guidance as they prepare to explore the natural beauty surrounding our community.

Primrose, located on West Broadway Street in the heart of historic downtown Oviedo, has become a go-to spot for both seasoned hikers and those new to the trails. With a wide selection of hiking boots, backpacks, and essential outdoor accessories, the store is seeing increased foot traffic as residents plan their spring and summer excursions. Store manager, Sarah Jenkins, noted a particular interest in lightweight daypacks and hydration systems this season.

“We’ve had a fantastic response from the community,” Jenkins said earlier this week. “People are really excited to get out and enjoy the local parks and trails, and we’re here to make sure they have everything they need for a safe and enjoyable experience.” She added that the store has recently stocked up on maps of local trails, including those in the Black Hammock Wilderness Area and the Little Big Econ State Forest, which are popular destinations for Oviedo hikers.

Beyond just selling gear, Primrose often serves as an informal information hub for local outdoor enthusiasts. Staff members, many of whom are avid hikers themselves, are frequently seen offering advice on trail conditions, recommending routes suitable for different skill levels, and sharing tips on wildlife safety. This community-focused approach has solidified Primrose’s role as an integral part of Oviedo’s outdoor recreation scene.

For those looking to refresh their gear or simply get some expert advice before hitting the trails, Primrose is open Monday through Saturday from 10 AM to 7 PM, and Sundays from 11 AM to 5 PM. Getting prepared now means a more enjoyable and safer hiking season for everyone in Oviedo.
