J.W. Mitchell High School Issues Key Reminders on Attendance, Safety, and Fees; Welcomes New Administrative Team Member

New Port Richey residents with students at J.W. Mitchell High School (JWMHS) received important reminders last month regarding school procedures and an update to the administrative team. The weekly School Messenger Call for the week of August 23rd, 2026, highlighted key information for families, including attendance policies, campus safety, and student fees.

The school emphasized the importance of students regularly checking their myPasco Connect email for weekly updates. This digital communication serves as a primary channel for crucial school information.

Regarding student attendance, families have a 72-hour window to report an absence in the myPascoConnect Portal for it to be excused upon the student's return. The school also stressed the importance of punctuality, encouraging students to arrive on time for classes daily.

Campus safety and traffic flow were also points of focus. JWMHS urged families to use designated areas for student drop-off and pick-up, following staff directions to ensure smooth operations. Parking on campus remains strictly limited to assigned spots; students without an assigned spot cannot park on school grounds. Additionally, the school reinforced its dress code policy, requiring students to wear school-appropriate clothing and to stow wireless devices like headphones, earbuds, smartwatches, and phones upon entering the building.

Families can pay student fees through Rycor. These fees support classroom supplies and special campus events throughout the school year.

The JWMHS administrative team saw a change with the departure of Mrs. Baldwin. The school extended its best wishes to her and thanked her for her contributions.
