Gale Warning: High Winds and Seas Expected for Coastal Waters

A Gale Warning has been issued by the National Weather Service in Juneau, AK, for the coastal waters from Cape Fairweather to Icy Cape, specifically 15 to 80 nautical miles offshore.

This warning is effective immediately, beginning September 22 at 3:17 PM AKDT, and will remain in effect until September 23 at 5:00 PM AKDT. Residents and mariners in the affected area, which also includes Southeast Alaska Coastal Waters from Dixon Entrance to Cape Suckling out 100 NM, should prepare for hazardous conditions.

East winds are forecasted to reach 25 knots tonight, increasing to 35 knots in the evening. Seas are expected to be 13 feet. Showers are anticipated early this evening and again later tonight. On Wednesday, east winds will remain at 35 knots, diminishing to 25 knots in the afternoon, with seas around 11 feet and continued showers.
