Fort Lauderdale City Commission Approves New Park Improvements for Holiday Park
Fort Lauderdale residents can look forward to enhanced recreational opportunities following the City Commission's approval of significant improvements for Holiday Park. During its regular meeting yesterday, April 8, 2026, the Commission voted to allocate funds for several upgrades aimed at modernizing facilities and increasing accessibility at the popular park located at 1150 G. Martin Drive in the Victoria Park neighborhood.
The approved plan includes the installation of new playground equipment designed for various age groups, resurfacing of several walking paths, and the addition of shaded seating areas throughout the park. Commissioner John Smith, representing District 2 in northeast Fort Lauderdale, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, "These improvements are a direct response to community feedback and will ensure Holiday Park remains a vibrant hub for families and individuals alike."
Funding for the project, totaling an estimated $1.2 million, will come from the city's parks and recreation budget, with construction anticipated to begin in late summer 2026. The city's Parks and Recreation Department will oversee the project, and further details regarding specific timelines and potential temporary closures will be announced in the coming months.
