Sarasota County Election Notices: Aug Primary & Nov Vote
Sarasota County voters received nearly 200,000 election notices containing deadlines and voting instructions for the Aug. 18 primary and Nov. 3 general election.
The primary registration deadline is July 20. Florida's closed primary system limits voters to contests for their registered political party, except for school board, judicial and universal primary races, which all registered voters can participate in regardless of affiliation.
The general election registration deadline is Oct. 5.
Voters can cast ballots three ways:
Vote by Mail: Request at SarasotaVotes.gov/Vote-by-Mail or call 941-861-8618 by 5 p.m. on the 12th day before the election. Ballots must reach the elections office by 7 p.m. on election night. Voters can mail ballots or drop them at the elections office (Monday-Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.) or an early voting location.
Vote Early: In-person early voting begins at least eight days before election day at multiple county sites. Voters need a current, valid photo ID. Visit SarasotaVotes.gov/Early-Voting for locations and hours.
Vote on Election Day: Polls open 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. Voters must go to their assigned precinct and bring a current, valid photo ID. Find polling locations on voter information cards or at SarasotaVotes.gov using the Find My Precinct tool.
