Dangerous Swimming Conditions Expected at Lake Michigan Beaches

Remain out of the water at Lake Michigan beaches in Lake and Porter Counties due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service. This statement is effective now, September 22, at 9:44 PM CDT, and will remain in effect until Wednesday morning, September 23, at 10:00 AM CDT.

High waves of 3 to 6 feet and dangerous currents are expected. The National Weather Service warns that swimming conditions will be life-threatening, particularly for inexperienced swimmers. To ensure safety, do not venture out onto piers, jetties, breakwalls, or other shoreline structures.
