Dangerous Currents, High Waves Expected on Lake Michigan Beaches Tonight

Residents and visitors in Door, Kewaunee, and Manitowoc Counties are advised to remain out of Lake Michigan waters due to a Beach Hazards Statement issued by the National Weather Service Green Bay WI.

The alert, effective until midnight CDT tonight, September 23, warns of high waves and dangerous currents. These conditions are expected to create hazardous swimming environments, with strong currents capable of pulling individuals into deeper water and high waves posing a risk of sweeping people off piers.

Affected beaches include Rock Island State Beach, Baileys Harbor beaches, and Whitefish Dunes Beach in Door County. In Kewaunee County, Crescent Beach and City of Kewaunee Beach are susceptible. Manitowoc County's Point Beach, Neshotah Beach, and Red Arrow Beach are also impacted.
