Critter Cafe: A New Spot for Coffee and Companionship in Fort Pierce

Fort Pierce residents will soon have a new destination to enjoy their morning brew alongside furry friends. The Critter Cafe, a unique establishment combining a coffee shop with an animal adoption center, is set to open its doors on April 22, 2026, at 123 Main Street, in the heart of historic downtown Fort Pierce.

The cafe aims to provide a comfortable and engaging environment for both humans and adoptable pets from the local animal shelter. Patrons can sip on coffee, tea, and light snacks while interacting with cats and, on designated days, small dogs, all available for adoption. The initiative hopes to increase local pet adoptions by offering a relaxed setting for potential pet owners to connect with animals.

Local entrepreneur Sarah Jenkins, a long-time Fort Pierce resident and animal welfare advocate, is the driving force behind the Critter Cafe. "We wanted to create a space where people could unwind and, at the same time, help our community's animals find loving homes," Jenkins stated. "It's a win-win for everyone."

The Critter Cafe will operate from 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. A portion of all proceeds will directly benefit the Fort Pierce Animal Shelter. The grand opening on April 22nd will feature special promotions and opportunities to meet some of the cafe's first animal residents.
