Crestview Man Arrested in Fentanyl Trafficking Bust
A Crestview man is facing serious charges after law enforcement officers executed a search warrant at his residence earlier this spring, uncovering a significant amount of fentanyl. On March 10, 2026, members of the Okaloosa County Sheriff’s Office Multi-Agency Drug Task Force, working in conjunction with the US Drug Enforcement Administration, searched a home in Crestview.
During the search, authorities located approximately 219 grams of fentanyl, a potent synthetic opioid known for its extreme danger. In addition to the illicit substance, two digital scales were also found at the residence. Rasheem Posey, 47, was arrested in connection with the operation.
While this incident occurred in Crestview, just a short drive inland from Destin, the presence of such a large quantity of fentanyl in our neighboring community is a stark reminder of the ongoing challenges posed by drug trafficking across the region, including here in Destin. The Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office Multi-Agency Drug Task Force plays a crucial role in interdicting these dangerous substances before they can spread further into our communities, impacting families and individuals. The collaboration with federal agencies like the DEA underscores the widespread nature of these criminal activities.
Fentanyl remains a significant concern for public safety and health officials due to its high potency and the severe risks it poses, even in small doses. Local law enforcement agencies, including the Destin Fire Control District and the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputies who patrol our streets and the scenic beaches of Destin, are continually working to combat the flow of illegal drugs and protect our residents.
Further details regarding Posey's charges and upcoming court proceedings will be reported as they become publicly available. Residents with information regarding drug activity are encouraged to contact the Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office at 850-651-7400 or make an anonymous tip through Emerald Coast Crime Stoppers at 850-863-TIPS.
