Conquer the Summer Slide: Lake Mary Library Offers Free Programs
Lake Mary parents looking to keep their children engaged and learning this summer can find a wealth of free resources at the Lake Mary Public Library. Starting in early June, the library, located at 1580 W. Lake Mary Blvd. in Seminole County, will launch its annual summer reading program, designed to combat the dreaded "summer slide" where students can lose academic ground during the long break.
The program will offer a variety of activities for all ages, from preschoolers to teens. Highlights include interactive story times, creative craft workshops, and educational presentations focusing on science and nature right here in Lake Mary. Children will be encouraged to read throughout the summer with incentives and prizes for reaching reading milestones.
Library Director Sarah Jenkins emphasized the importance of continued learning outside of the classroom. "Our summer programs are a fantastic way for kids to explore new interests, maintain their reading skills, and connect with their community, all while having fun," Jenkins stated. "We want to make sure every child in Lake Mary has the opportunity to keep their minds active and curious."
Registration for the summer reading program will open on May 15th at the library's front desk and online through the library's website. Specific dates and times for individual events will be announced in late May. Residents are encouraged to visit the Lake Mary Public Library or call 407-555-1234 for more information on how to participate and help their children conquer the summer slide.
