Cheyenne Man Charged in Fatal King Court Shooting
National Desk
April 29, 2026
Cheyenne Police Officers responded to a shooting report at approximately 1:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 23, discovering a 25-year-old male victim with a gunshot wound at the King Court residence. Officers administered first aid before medical personnel transported the victim to Cheyenne Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation reveals the shooting stemmed from an escalating dispute between Navarrete and the victim that began in the parking lot of a local bar at around 12:30 a.m. During that initial confrontation, the victim allegedly smashed the windshield of Navarrete's vehicle. Navarrete left the bar with friends and returned home, while the victim departed separately.
After the bar incident, the victim traveled to Navarrete's residence to retrieve personal belongings, triggering a second disturbance that turned fatal. While other people were in proximity to the gunfire, no additional injuries were reported. Detectives arrested Navarrete early the following morning and booked him into the Laramie County Jail on charges of first-degree murder and aggravated assault. The Cheyenne Police Department continues investigating the case.
