Alachua County to Host Household Hazardous Waste Collection Event

High Springs residents will have an opportunity to safely dispose of household hazardous waste next month. Alachua County will host a collection event on Saturday, May 9, 2026, from 9 AM to 3 PM, at the Alachua County Hazardous Waste Collection Center, located at 5215 NW 34th Street in nearby Gainesville.

This event provides a convenient way for community members to properly discard items such as paints, pesticides, fertilizers, pool chemicals, and automotive fluids, which should not be placed in regular household trash. Disposing of these materials correctly helps protect our local environment and water resources, including the natural springs cherished in High Springs.

The collection event is free for Alachua County residents. Businesses and commercial entities are not eligible to participate in this specific event. For more information on accepted materials or directions, residents can contact Alachua County Waste Management.
