Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Curry, Roosevelt Counties Until 7:15 PM MDT
A Severe Thunderstorm Warning has been issued for southwestern Curry and northwestern Roosevelt Counties until 7:15 PM MDT, with threats of 60 mph winds and small hail. Seek shelter immediately.
Residents in southwestern Curry County and northwestern Roosevelt County are advised to seek shelter immediately. The National Weather Service in Albuquerque has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Warning effective until 7:15 PM MDT tonight, September 29.
At 6:43 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 13 miles southwest of Melrose, or 22 miles west of Portales, moving northeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing 60 mph wind gusts and small hail. Impacts include potential damage to roofs, siding, and trees.
Affected areas include Melrose, Saint Vrain, and Cannon Air Force Base. This warning also covers Highway 60 between Mile Markers 353 and 380.
Seek shelter inside a well-built structure and stay away from windows. This storm is capable of producing damaging winds. Tornadoes can develop quickly from severe thunderstorms; seek shelter immediately in an interior room on the lowest floor of a well-built structure. Torrential rainfall is also occurring and may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
