Winter Weather Advisory Issued: Snow and Gusty Winds Expected

A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for North Central Montana from this evening until Monday morning, with snow accumulations of 3-10 inches and winds up to 40 mph expected, potentially impacting travel and causing power outages.

A Winter Weather Advisory has been issued for several North Central Montana counties. Residents in Eastern Glacier, Western Toole, Central Pondera, Eastern Toole, Liberty, Western and Central Chouteau, Bears Paw Mountains and Southern Blaine, and Fergus County below 4500 feet should prepare for snow and gusty winds.

The advisory is effective from 6 PM this evening, October 10, until 6 AM MDT on Monday, October 12. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Great Falls anticipates total snow accumulations of 3 to 5 inches in lower elevations, with 5 to 10 inches possible in mountainous areas. Winds could gust as high as 40 mph.

Travel conditions may become difficult. The combination of gusty winds and heavy, wet snow could lead to downed tree branches and isolated power outages. Snowfall on roadways at lower elevations is expected primarily between this evening and late Monday morning.

The NWS advises motorists to slow down and use caution while traveling. For the latest road conditions, dial 511.
