A Freeze Warning has been issued for multiple areas, including the Eastern Magic Valley, Shoshone/Lava Beds, Arco/Mud Lake Desert, and the Lower Snake River Plain. Sub-freezing temperatures as low as 29 degrees Fahrenheit are expected.

The warning is in effect from 4:00 AM to 9:00 AM MDT on Tuesday, October 13. The National Weather Service (NWS) Pocatello ID issued this alert at 10:48 AM MDT today, October 12.

These conditions could kill crops and other sensitive vegetation. Unprotected outdoor plumbing may also be damaged. The NWS indicates that extensive cloud cover is expected to be a limiting factor, potentially making sub-freezing temperatures very short-lived.

Residents in the affected areas should take steps now to protect tender plants from the cold temperatures. This includes covering plants or bringing them indoors.
