Severe Thunderstorm Warning: Shelter Now for Bannock, Bingham, Caribou, Power ID

Residents in parts of Bannock, Bingham, Caribou, and Power counties in Idaho are advised to take immediate shelter due to a Severe Thunderstorm Warning issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) Pocatello ID.

The warning is in effect from 11:06 PM MDT until 11:15 PM MDT tonight, September 17. At 11:05 PM MDT, a severe thunderstorm was located 7 miles northeast of Fort Hall Mount Putnam, moving northeast at 25 mph. This storm is capable of producing quarter-sized hail, with damage to vehicles expected.

Impacted locations include Pocatello, Chesterfield Reservoir, American Falls Reservoir, Chubbuck, Inkom, Fort Hall Buffalo Lodge, Portneuf Gap, Fort Hall Townsite, Fort Hall Mount Putnam, Fort Hall Bannock Creek Lodge, Pocatello Airport, Fort Hall Putnam Lodge, and Mink Creek Pass.

The NWS advises moving to an interior room on the lowest floor of a building for protection. Torrential rainfall is accompanying this storm, which may lead to flash flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded roadways.
