Pinellas Park Police Report Requests: New Process Clarified

Residents and legal professionals can now find detailed procedures for requesting police reports, crash data, or digital evidence from the Pinellas Park Police Department through the department's Records Request Center. The Records Department handles the accuracy, processing, and maintenance of all police documents, including reports, crash reports, and citations.

The department also manages station operations such as mail delivery, front counter interactions, report scanning, and data entry. They are responsible for making copies and disseminating reports to the public, the State Attorney's Office, law firms, and insurance companies in accordance with Florida Statutes Chapter 119, Public Records Laws.

All police report requests must be submitted via the Records Request Center. Law firms submitting discovery requests for video, photos, 911 calls, or reports must include the offense/report number, defendant's name, and date of the report. A copy of the Answer to Demand For Discovery Letter (ATD) issued by the State Attorney's Office must also be attached.

Requests for video or photo media to be mailed require sending a self-addressed, padded mailing envelope to Ms. Ambyr Sargent at the Pinellas Park Police Department, 7700 59th Street N., Pinellas Park, FL 33781. Citizens, law firms, or insurance companies requesting video or photo evidence in non-criminal or closed criminal cases can submit requests through the Records Request Center without the ATD letter.

Florida law mandates a 60-day waiting period for the release of traffic crash reports after they are filed. Exceptions for earlier release include requests from individuals involved in the crash, their legal representatives, insurance agencies, or state and local law enforcement agencies. A Sworn Statement Form must be completed and submitted through the Records Request Center for these exceptions.

For parking citations issued within the City of Pinellas Park, individuals can pay the fine within 15 days or enter a plea of Not Guilty. Instructions for paying or entering a plea for traffic citations issued by the Pinellas Park Police Department are included on the citation or accompanying information sheet. The Pinellas County Clerk of the Courts can provide further assistance.
