Pinellas Sheriff: Use 911 for Emergencies Only
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office urged residents to call 911 only for emergencies and reminded them that email addresses provided to the office are public record.
The Pinellas County Sheriff's Office is reminding residents to reserve 911 for emergencies such as crimes in progress, fires, critical medical situations, and serious vehicle crashes.
For non-emergency reports and general inquiries, residents should call 727-582-6200. Callers uncertain whether a situation warrants emergency response should call 911; dispatchers are trained to assess and route calls appropriately.
The Sheriff's Office also clarified that email addresses submitted to the office are public record under Florida law and subject to disclosure. Residents who want to keep their email addresses private should contact the office by phone or mail instead.
