The City of Pinellas Park now requires contractors and companies applying for building permits to submit a Certificate of Insurance. This new rule, effective immediately, mandates documentation of both general liability and workers' compensation coverage.
Contractors needing a permit must provide a Certificate of Insurance listing general liability and workers' compensation. Those exempt from workers' compensation can submit a valid exemption certificate. If an insurance producer is based out of state, the workers' compensation coverage must explicitly state its validity within Florida. Applications with insufficient certificates will be returned.
Applicants can submit certificates via email to [email protected] or by mail to the Building Development Division at 6051 78th Ave, Pinellas Park, FL 33781-1100. The City of Pinellas Park must be listed as the certificate holder.
Permits are available through the city's online portal or in person at the Permit Counter, located in the Public Works / Technical Services Building at 6051 78th Avenue N. The counter operates Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
For project-specific questions or general inquiries, contact the Building Development Division at 727-369-5647. While some simple projects may receive permits promptly, most require review of building and site plans.
