
Lightning Launch Week Delights Tampa Bay Fans Ahead of Home Opener
The Tampa Bay Lightning celebrated their home opener with Lightning Launch Week, a series of free fan events including markets, trivia, fitness classes and a scavenger hunt, concluding Saturday, Oct. 3.

The Tampa Bay Lightning hosted a week of free events, dubbed Lightning Launch Week, culminating Saturday, Oct. 3, before the team's first home game. Fans across the region participated in activities including vintage markets, trivia nights and fitness classes.
The week kicked off Sunday, Sept. 27, with the Bolts Vintage x Mezzo Market on Ford Thunder Alley. Over 40 vendors offered vintage apparel and collectibles, with a DJ performing on The Porch. College students could purchase $18 tickets during preseason play.
A scavenger hunt, Find the Bolt, engaged fans from Monday through Friday. Each day, the team hid a Lightning Bolt somewhere locally and posted clues on social media. The first fan to find the bolt each day won a prize.
On Tuesday, Sept. 29, a 90-minute Pilates session took place at Armature Works from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. The event featured a DJ, giveaways and treats from Fit Bowl.
Four local establishments hosted Lightning trivia rounds on Wednesday, Sept. 30. Pinellas Ale Works in St. Petersburg and Tamiami Tap in Sarasota began trivia at 7 p.m. Top Shelf Sports Lounge in Wesley Chapel started at 7:30 p.m., and The Blind Goat in Tampa hosted its round at 8 p.m.
The season opener against New York on Thursday, Oct. 1, featured a Tier 1 watch party presented by Jai Alai, starting at 7 p.m.
Friday, Oct. 2, marked the inaugural Blue Cup Day, a new annual tradition celebrating hockey's return. Participating coffee shops, including The Lab, Shortwave, Flatbread & Butter, Lady & The Mug, Intermezzo, and Grove Surf Café, offered the first 50 paying customers a limited-edition commemorative Blue Cup and chances to win giveaways.
The week concluded with the home opener against the Capitals on Saturday, Oct. 3, at 7 p.m. A Lightning Blue Carpet Walk on Ford Thunder Alley preceded the game at 3:45 p.m. Fans greeted players and viewed three NHL trophies: the Hart Memorial Trophy, Jack Adams Award and Vezina Trophy.
