Strong Wind Gusts Expected Today in Pike County
Pike County residents should secure outdoor objects today as strong wind gusts, up to 35 mph and potentially over 40 mph on ridge tops, are expected from 6:20 AM to 5:00 PM EDT due to the remnants of Hurricane Isaias, according to the NWS.
Pike County residents should secure outdoor objects today as a Special Weather Statement has been issued by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, KY, regarding strong wind gusts. This statement is effective immediately, beginning at 6:20 AM EDT on October 10, 2026, and is expected to expire at 5:00 PM EDT.
Southeasterly winds of 10 to 20 mph, with gusts up to 35 mph, are anticipated as the remnants of Hurricane Isaias move into eastern Kentucky. The NWS reports that the strongest winds are expected during the afternoon and will likely coincide with the arrival of the initial rain bands. While winds may lessen in many areas once rainfall becomes steady, gusty conditions are expected to persist into the night at elevations above 1,500 feet. Isolated gusts exceeding 40 mph are possible over the highest ridge tops.
These gusty winds could blow around unsecured outdoor objects and decor. Residents are advised to take precautions to prevent damage or injury from flying debris.
