Pike County residents should secure outdoor objects and decor ahead of strong wind gusts expected this Saturday. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Jackson, KY, has issued a Special Weather Statement regarding the remnants of Hurricane Isaias moving into Eastern Kentucky.
Southeasterly winds of 10 to 20 mph with gusts up to 35 mph are anticipated. The strongest winds are expected during Saturday afternoon, coinciding with the arrival of the initial rain bands. While winds may lessen for many areas once rainfall becomes steady, gusty conditions are predicted to persist into Saturday night at elevations above 1,500 feet. Isolated gusts exceeding 40 mph are possible on the highest ridge tops.
This Special Weather Statement was issued on October 9 at 1:24 PM EDT and is effective until 9:30 PM EDT on Saturday, October 9, 2026. Secure any loose items outside your home to prevent them from being blown around by the winds.
