13th Annual Fall Festival
The Village of Milton is excited to announce the 13th Annual Fall Festival, a beloved community tradition. Join us on Saturday, October 13th, 2026, for a day filled with fun, food, and festivities. The festival will run from 10:00 AM to 4:00 PM at the Milton Community Park. Activities will include a pumpkin patch, hayrides, face painting, and a petting zoo. Local artisans and craft vendors will be showcasing their unique creations, and a variety of food trucks will be on site offering delicious treats. Live music from local bands will be featured throughout the day. Admission to the festival is free. We look forward to seeing you there!

Celebrating 20 Years of Twilight: New Moon The City of Milton is proud to celebrate the 20th anniversary of Twilight: New Moon, a beloved outdoor performance series. This year's celebration features the return of "The Very Famous People" for a special performance on Saturday, July 22nd. Join us on the grounds of the historic Milton House Museum for an evening of entertainment under the stars. "The Very Famous People" are known for their energetic and engaging performances, making for a memorable night for all. Attendees are encouraged to bring their own blankets or chairs to ensure a comfortable viewing experience. The event promises to be a wonderful opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy a night of music and culture. Homecoming Parade Route and Closure
The Milton High School Homecoming Parade will take place on Friday, September 25th beginning at 2:00 p.m. Road closures will go into effect at 1:45 p.m. so please plan accordingly. The closures will re-open at approximately 3:00 p.m. The route will begin at Schilberg Park, proceed east on W. High St. and turn left (north) onto Parkview Dr. and end at North Goodrich Park. Get outside and help us collect prairie seeds this fall! Our annual Prairie Seed Collection is a free, family-friendly event and a great way to learn more about our local prairies while lending a hand. 📍 Crossridge Park Saturday, October 17 | 10 a.m.–noon 📍 Bendlin Prairie at Tower Hill Park Saturday, October 24 | 10 a.m.–noon Bring gardening gloves and snips if you have them. Seeds collected may be taken home for personal use or donated to the City. Come explore, learn, and collect with us!

Pittsfield Mayor Proclaims April 26th as Arbor Day
Mayor’s Proclamation – Arbor Day 2024 WHEREAS, In 1872, J. Sterling Morton proposed to the Nebraska Board of Agriculture that a special day be set aside for the planting of trees; and WHEREAS, This holiday, called Arbor Day, was first observed with the planting of more than a million trees in Nebraska; and WHEREAS, Arbor Day is now observed throughout the nation and the world; and WHEREAS, Trees can reduce the erosion of our precious topsoil by wind and water, cut heating and cooling costs, moderate the temperature, clean the air, produce life-giving oxygen, and provide habitat for wildlife; and WHEREAS, Trees are a renewable resource giving us paper, wood for our homes, fuel for our fires and countless other wood products; and WHEREAS, Trees in our city increase property values, enhance the economic vitality of business areas, and beautify our community; and WHEREAS, Trees, wherever they are planted, are a source of joy and spiritual renewal. NOW, THEREFORE, I, Gary M. Mendenhall, Mayor of Pittsfield, Illinois, do hereby proclaim April 26, 2024, as ARBOR DAY in the City of Pittsfield, and I urge all citizens to celebrate Arbor Day and to support efforts to protect our trees and woodlands. I further urge all citizens to plant trees to gladden the heart and promote the well-being of this and future generations.

Groundwater Research Underway in Pittsfield by Illinois State Water Survey
Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) Conducting Research in Pittsfield The Illinois State Water Survey (ISWS) is currently conducting research in Pittsfield, Illinois. This important initiative is focused on understanding and monitoring groundwater sources and well water levels within the community. As part of their research, ISWS personnel are drilling observation wells throughout the city. These wells will allow them to accurately measure and track changes in groundwater levels over time. The data collected from these observation wells will provide valuable insights into the availability and sustainability of Pittsfield's groundwater resources. This research is crucial for the long-term planning and management of the city’s water supply.
