PICKENS COUNTY, AL – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham has issued a Tropical Storm Watch for Pickens County, including Carrollton, effective tonight, October 8, 2026, at 7:10 PM CDT. This watch indicates the potential for tropical storm conditions to affect the area.

Residents should plan for hazardous winds of 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts potentially reaching 40 mph. Efforts to protect property should begin immediately. Potential impacts include damage to sheds and unanchored mobile homes, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Complete preparations now before hazardous winds arrive.
