A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Pickens County, including the community of Carrollton, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective from October 9 at 1:19 AM CDT. This watch will remain in effect until 9:30 AM CDT on October 9.

Residents should prepare for potential wind gusts up to 40 mph and 2-4 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts. The NWS advises completing all preparations before hazardous winds begin. Expect possible damage to lightweight structures, downed tree limbs, and scattered power outages. Hazardous driving conditions, especially on elevated roadways, are also possible.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Moderate rainfall flooding is possible, potentially causing swollen rivers, overflowing small streams, and inundation in low-lying areas. Heed all flood watches and warnings, as failure to take action could lead to serious injury or loss of life. Tornadoes are not expected at this time.
