The City of Obetz is seeking public input on a proposed project to construct an ADA-compliant paved multi-use path at Dixon Quarry. This project is part of a broader effort to improve accessibility, safety, and connectivity throughout the community. The proposed path would enhance access to recreational areas and connect to existing and planned trail systems in the region, supporting long-term mobility and outdoor recreation opportunities. Project Overview The proposed multi-use path would: Provide an accessible, paved route for pedestrians and cyclists Improve connectivity within Dixon Quarry and surrounding areas Support safe, inclusive access for individuals of all abilities Align with regional trail and infrastructure improvements Potential Environmental Considerations As part of the planning process, the project will evaluate potential impacts to: Natural areas within and surrounding Dixon Quarry Nearby waterways and drainage features Vegetation and wildlife habitats All environmental considerations will be reviewed and addressed in coordination with the Ohio Department of Natural Resources (ODNR). Public Comment Period 🗓 Now Open – 14-Day Comment Period📅 Comments accepted through: April 28, 2026 The City of Obetz encourages residents, visitors, and stakeholders to share their feedback on this proposed project. All comments received during this public input period will be reviewed and included as part of the project documentation submitted to ODNR. Art Contest Announced

2025 Art Contest kristin.beylo Wed, 02/19/2025 - 09:41 The Family Violence Prevention Council of Broome County thanks you for taking an interest in  our 4th Annual Art Contest! The purpose of our art contest is for Broome County students to  bring our theme to life. The theme for 2025 celebrates our exciting anniversary in Broome County- "Celebrating 40 Years of Building Safe Homes" We are hopeful that students will  create art that showcases safety, stability, acceptance, protection, and belonging. For inspiration, past winners, and more information- check out our Facebook Events page for this project- https://bit.ly/FBArtContest2025 Rules & Regulations:  This contest is open to all Broome County students enrolled in Pre-K through 12th grade.  Students may submit their artwork as an individual or as a group from a class or small group  (perfect for young students or small therapeutic groups!).  Please note that any art work that depicts or illustrates nudity, violence, or otherwise inappropriate material will be removed from the contest. The decisions regarding inappropriate material will be made by the FVPC staff, who will monitor submissions daily. By submitting your art work, artists are agreeing to allow the Council to publicly share the submitted work as a part of this contest and in the future for other marketing and campaigning purposes. Submissions must be two dimensional and submitted through a photograph or JPEG. Artwork  must have a title.  Accepted Mediums:  • Paintings: oil, acrylics, watercolor, etc.  • Drawings: colored pencil, pencil, ink, marker, pastels, charcoal  • Collages  • Prints: lithographs, silkscreen, block prints  • Mixed Media: use of more than two mediums such as pencil, ink, watercolor, etc. •  Computer-generated art    Important Dates:  Submissions will be accepted until March 21, 2025 at 12:00pm. No submissions will be accepted past the deadline, so please leave time for technical errors! Beginning March 21, 2025 at 12:01pm, the gallery will be enabled and community members will be invited to vote for their favorite image until March 28, 2025 at 12:00pm. The winner will be announced after voting closes on March 28, 2025 via our facebook page (www.facebook.com/BroomeCoFVPC) . The first place winner will have their art featured on a special Child Abuse Prevention Awareness billboard courtesy of Park Outdoor. Second place will win an art kit valued up to $50.00 from Michael's and third place will win an art kit valued up to $25.00 from Michael's.
