PYRAMID LAKE, NV – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Lake Wind Advisory for the Western Nevada Basin and Range, specifically impacting Pyramid Lake, effective immediately until 8:00 PM PDT this evening, September 25.
Boaters and lake-goers are advised to check lake conditions before heading out and to be prepared for sudden increases in winds and wave heights. The NWS recommends considering postponing boating activities on Pyramid Lake until conditions improve.
Southwest winds are expected to reach 15 to 25 mph, with gusts up to 40 mph. These strong winds will generate waves of 1 to 3 feet on Pyramid Lake, creating hazardous conditions, particularly for small craft.
