PERRY, AL — A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Perry, effective October 8 at 10:27 PM CDT by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL. Residents in the Marion area should immediately begin preparations for hazardous winds and significant flooding.

The NWS forecasts peak winds between 20-30 mph, with gusts reaching up to 50 mph. Potential impacts include damage to lightweight structures, broken tree limbs, and scattered power outages. All efforts to protect property should be completed as soon as possible. Move to safe shelter before winds become hazardous.

A Flood Watch is also in effect. Rainfall amounts of 2-4 inches are expected, with locally higher totals, posing a significant risk for moderate flooding. Rivers and tributaries may swell, and rapid inundation is possible in low-lying areas. Consider protective actions if you are in a flood-vulnerable area and heed all flood watches and warnings. Failure to act may result in serious injury or loss of life.

Tornadoes are not expected at this time. This alert is effective until October 9, 2026, at 1:30 AM CDT. For more information, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
