PERRY COUNTY – A Tropical Storm Watch has been issued for Perry County, including Marion, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, Alabama, effective immediately as of October 9 at 1:19 AM CDT. This watch indicates that tropical storm conditions are possible within the next 36 hours.
Residents should prepare for hazardous winds between 39 to 57 mph, with peak gusts potentially reaching 50 mph. Damage to unsecured structures like porches, sheds, and mobile homes is possible. Expect broken tree limbs, potential downed trees, and scattered power outages. All efforts to secure property should be completed as soon as possible.
