Five Booker T. Washington Students Receive $12,500 in Aviation Scholarships

Five graduates of Booker T. Washington High School's Aviation Maintenance Career Academy received $12,500 in scholarships from ST Engineering at a senior awards ceremony this month.

The recipients are Tyson Tang, Vincent Pearson, Brent Nolan, Dylan Law, and Shayleigh Diamond. All plan to pursue aviation careers.

ST Engineering established the Mayor's Scholarship in 2019 to support graduating seniors entering aviation. The company has donated more than $100,000 in scholarships since the program began.

"ST Engineering is on track to become one of our largest private-sector employers, and their continued commitment to education and workforce development is a tremendous opportunity for our young people," Mayor D.C. Reeves said.

Darryl Seow, senior vice president and head of Airframe Services at ST Engineering, said the scholarships support students while strengthening the local aviation workforce.
