She dined out often enough that most of the staff at the restaurants she frequented knew her by name. Maria enjoyed eating bread and also had quite a sweet tooth. Although she knew she was not supposed to indulge, she always found a way, whether it be with her secret stash of sweets or convincing her granddaughter to sneak her a cookie.Maria will be dearly missed by all who knew her.Family will be receiving guests on Wednesday, June 3, 2026 from 4:00pm until 8:00pm at Dieterle Memorial Home, 1120 South Broadway, Montgomery, IL 60538. Bartlesville bans tobacco, smoke, and vapor on all city property

The City Council adopted an ordinance on Monday that updated the municipal code to create a Tobacco‑, Smoke‑, and Vapor‑Free policy for all City property. The new rules expanded the prior smoking ban to cover all tobacco products and vapor devices and applied the prohibition to City-owned, leased or operated property — indoors and outdoors — including parks, trails, recreation areas, playgrounds, City vehicles and equipment. The ordinance incorporated applicable state law by reference, set clear definitions for terms (such as “municipal property,” “smoking,” “tobacco product,” and “vapor product”) and provides that certain violations may be addressed as a nuisance. “By updating the code, the Council provided a clear, citywide standard: municipal property is now tobacco‑, smoke‑, and vapor‑free,” Community Development Director Larry Curtis said. “This change modernized rules which were written before electronic cigarettes and similar devices became common. “We also addressed practical issues: signage will be posted, ash receptacles removed, and staff now have a straightforward enforcement framework. Those steps will make compliance easier and reduce litter across City property.” Council members relied on public‑health and livability findings in approving the measure: the updated rules reduced exposure to secondhand smoke and aerosol, strengthened protections for children and employees, and aimed to cut litter and waste associated with smoking and vaping. Bartlesville voters to decide ONE Gas franchise renewal on Aug. 25

The City Council approved an ordinance renewing a franchise agreement with ONE Gas, Inc. (Oklahoma Natural Gas) – and an accompanying proclamation which will present the measure to be considered by voters at a special election on Aug. 25. If approved by voters, ONG will have a 25‑year, non‑exclusive right to use city streets and rights‑of‑way to install, operate and maintain natural gas pipelines and related equipment inside Bartlesville. The company must file a written acceptance after the election for the franchise to become effective. The agreement keeps the City’s current 3% franchise fee on gas sales within city limits. City staff estimate that fee brings in roughly $365,000–$410,000 per year, though actual receipts can vary with weather and market conditions. The franchise fee is payable monthly by ONG to the City and replaces other franchise or occupation taxes for the company. The ordinance also allows the City, by separate action, to adopt a volumetric fee on transported gas in the future. For residents, the renewal should not change how you receive or pay for natural gas from ONG. The ordinance focuses on the company’s right to use public ways, safety and construction standards, and the city’s ability to collect the franchise fee. ONG is required to follow applicable state and federal pipeline safety rules, provide advance notice before planned excavations (48 hours for non‑emergencies), and restore public ways to City standards after work. For further information, review the ordinance and proclamation. The post ONG franchise agreement OK’d, now goes to special election appeared first on City of Bartlesville.
