Sign-up For Text Message Hearing Notifications

Text hearing reminders is a free service aimed at providing convenient reminders with the goal of reducing the number of people who fail to appear in Oregon's Circuit Courts and Tax Court. Text to hearing notifications are available, if your cell phone number is associated with a Circuit Court or Tax Court case, you will receive text message hearing notifications in all non-confidential cases where you are party. Providing your cell phone number to the court will allow you to receive hearing reminders (provided 7 days and 1 day before your court hearing) and updates to upcoming hearings (such as scheduled, rescheduled, or cancelled hearings). If the court already has your cell phone number, you will automatically receive reminders for upcoming hearing dates and notifications when a hearing on your court case is scheduled, rescheduled, or cancelled. You can respond "No" to any of these messages to stop future messages related to that case from being sent to your cell phone number. All messages and hearing notifications will be sent from the following phone numbers: 503-386-0303, 503-386-0368, 503-386-0611, 503-386-0645, 503-386-0674, 503-386-0743, 503-386-0812. Text Message Hearing Notifications were rolled out across the state in 2021. Umatilla County went live on March 22nd.

Apply To Become a Pro Tem and/or Reference Judge

The Oregon Judicial Department welcomes the participation of qualified lawyers to serve as judges pro tempore ("pro tem judges") to assist in the work of the state's courts and, thereby, improve access to justice. Pro tem judges serve in various capacities in the state's judicial districts, with their assignments coming primarily from the presiding judge of the pro tem judge's judicial district. Pro Tem Judge Eligibility & Qualifications The Oregon Supreme Court appoints pro tem judges. To be eligible for appointment, a person must be an Oregon resident and have been a member in good standing of the Oregon State Bar for the three years preceding the person's appointment. In addition, the person must have the legal knowledge and experience necessary to perform the duties of a pro tem judge in a manner that will promote the more efficient administration of justice. To preside over courtroom proceedings, a person must have substantial courtroom experience and strong communication skills. Pro tem judges are subject to the provisions of the Code of Judicial Conduct. They are also subject to the Oregon Constitution's restrictions on simultaneously holding multiple government positions. Or Const, Art III, § 1; Or Const, Art II, § 10.1 Before applying to serve as a pro tem judge, applicants should determine whether they have any potential conflicts of interest that could affect their eligibility to serve. Pro Tem Judge Application Process To be appointed as a pro tem judge, a person must apply for and receive approval by the Supreme Court. To do so, an applicant must submit: - A completed Application for Pro Tem Judge Approval; - A letter from a judicial district's presiding judge stating the judge's position regarding approval of the applicant; and - A letter from the same judicial district's pro tem judge screening committee stating the committee's position regarding the applicant's approval. The letters must be from the presiding judge and screening committee for the judicial district where the applicant's office is located. However, if an applicant's office is located in Multnomah, Clackamas, or Washington County, the applicant may apply through the screening committee for any one of those counties and the presiding judge for the same county. The application and letters from the screening committee and presiding judge should be sent from the presiding judge's office in one package to the Pro Tem Judge Manager at the Office of the State Court Administrator. The amount of time to obtain approval varies, depending on the review processes of the judicial district's presiding judge and screening committee. Once the required materials are submitted to the Supreme Court, the materials will be considered at one of the court's public meetings, which are usually held monthly. Pro tem approvals are for three years. Persons seeking reapproval should apply early enough so that their applications can be considered before the expiration of their current terms. Klamath County Circuit Court

Klamath County Circuit Court is located at 316 Main Street, Klamath Falls, Oregon 97601. Telephone: 541-883-5503. Courthouse Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm, Friday 9am-5pm. Clerk's office closed 12pm-1pm. ADA Coordinator: Fawna Anderson. Trial Court Administrator: John Powell. The Klamath County Courthouse was completed in 1998; replacing the old courthouse that was demolished following the 1993 earthquake. Visitors to the courthouse will be required to pass through a security screening station when entering the building.

Welcome to Appellate eFile, which gives everyone the ability to file documents and pay filing fees electronically in the appellate courts. Electronic filing (eFiling) allows everyone to file documents and pay filing fees electronically. Benefits of eFiling include: - File documents with the court 24 hours a day, 7 days a week (The ability to file documents with the court is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, from any location with internet access, except during regularly scheduled maintenance hours) - Potential cost savings, including a reduction in production, photocopy, courier, and postage costs - A convenient, secure method to file documents and pay associated fees - The flexibility to file a document up to 11:59:59 p.m. in the time zone in which the court is located, on the date that the document is required to be filed - A reduction of the risk of paper files being misplaced or lost Users must register online to obtain a username and password prior to using the electronic filing system. Password Information: Passwords will expire every 180 days. Passwords must be at least seven (7) characters long, contain at least one (1) non-alphanumeric character (for example: @!&*), and if there are five (5) failed login attempts within 10 minutes, the account will be locked. Josephine County Circuit Court - Scam Alert and Court Information

The Josephine County Circuit Court is aware of scams targeting residents of Josephine County. The scams vary. Generally, the caller identifies himself as a Deputy Sheriff calling on behalf of Sheriff Dave Daniel or as a court employee, claims you failed to appear for jury duty, failed to address a warrant, or failed to comply with a subpoena and demands immediate payment to recall the warrant. The scammer has spoofed the Circuit Court phone number, so the caller ID reads 541-476-2309. Please be aware that if you miss jury service, the court will never ask law enforcement to collect a fine from you. Additionally, law enforcement will not call a person on the telephone regarding a warrant out for arrest. The court will also not contact individuals by telephone to collect fines and fees. All collections are done by correspondence. If you receive a telephone call asking for payment of a fine or to address a warrant, hang up and do not provide email information to the caller. You may choose to report the call to the Sheriff's Office at 541-474-5123. OJD iForms (Interactive Forms)

Oregon circuit courts provide online forms (sometimes called iForms) for self-represented court users to electronically complete forms and file or respond to cases. Guide & File is an online program that works on any computer or mobile device. Using Guide & File is FREE. The only cost is the required filing fee when you turn in the form to the court. Note: Restraining orders never require a fee. Guide & File is available for these types of cases: Protection orders (restraining orders, elder abuse), Divorce, separation, or custody cases, Changing a family judgment (modification), Developing a parenting plan, Application for a court-appointed lawyer (criminal cases only), Residential evictions, Small claims complaints, Name or legal sex change, Motion to seal your eviction, marijuana, or criminal record (expungement), Satisfaction of a money award (when you have received payment on a court judgment in your favor), Firearms surrender declaration (responding to a court order to give up your firearms), Adult Guardian Reports, Modifications of Financial Obligations, and Tax Appeals. How Guide & File works: Fill out the online questionnaire (the program calls it an "interview"). Guide & File uses your answers to fill out the correct court form. Next, you can choose one of three ways to turn it in: print the completed form and deliver it in person to the court; print the completed form and mail it to the court; or turn in the completed form online through the Guide & File program. How long does it take to use Guide & File? This depends on the type of case. A small claims case may take less than 30 minutes, but a divorce case may take more than an hour. Guide & File lets you create an account so that you can save your work, leave, and come back later to finish. To use Guide & File, you will need: All case-related information including names, addresses, dates, and other relevant information. For cases related to family issues, you will need birth dates for everyone involved, and Social Security numbers, if you have them. All documents need to be in PDF format. Find Information About a Remote Hearing

Remote Hearings About Remote Hearings Some hearings are held with one or more parties not physically present in the courtroom. If the remote hearing is eligible for public viewing, it will be live-streamed through Webex Events (the software Oregon's state courts use for this purpose). When available, live streaming allows the public to join and view and/or listen to these hearings from a computer, mobile device (such as a smartphone or tablet), or phone (subject to some limitations). Many remote hearings may also be available to view at a court facility. Contact the court with any questions on how to access a remote hearing. Information for Case Participants Case participants are persons (litigants or defendants) who are parties in a case with pending matters to be resolved. When a case is scheduled for a remote hearing, some or all the participants, including attorneys and witnesses, may be required to appear via remote means. The court uses Webex to host these remote hearings and will provide case participants with the link to join the hearing. Marion County Circuit Court

The Marion County Circuit Court serves Oregon's capital, Salem, and the surrounding areas. There are three locations to serve the community, with the main courthouse centered in the heart of downtown Salem. The judges and staff of the Marion County Circuit Court make the following pledge to each litigant, defendant, victim, witness, juror and person involved in a court proceeding: we will listen to you, we will respond to your questions about court procedure, and we will treat you with respect. Free parking is available at the Juvenile and Criminal Court locations and metered parking is available at the downtown courthouse. Cherriots Bus services runs near all three locations. Front door screening stations are set up at every location so please allow extra time to get through security.
