For Immediate ReleaseApplications Being Accepted The City of Sterling is accepting applications for a Council Member Ward 2 vacancy. Ward 2 is generally bounded by Chestnut St. (Highway 6) on the South, 5th and 6th streets on the West, and municipal boundaries to the North and East.Applications and a ward map are available on the City's website at www.sterlingcolo.com under City Council, can be requested by email to [email protected], found in the City Clerk's office at City Hall 421 North 4th Street, or call 970-522-9700 and an application will be mailed.Submissions must include the application and a copy of your resume.Applications will be accepted until the vacancy is filled.Any person appointed to fill a vacancy for a term in an elective office shall have the qualifications required of persons to be regularly elected. The candidate must meet the following criteria: Be a citizen of the United States of America. Be eighteen years of age or older on the date of appointment. Have resided in the City of Sterling for twelve (12) consecutive months and in their respective ward for at least 90 days immediately preceding the appointment. Be a registered elector as defined by the laws of the State of Colorado. Shall continue to reside within the boundaries of the ward in effect at the time of their election throughout the term of office.
