A Tropical Storm Warning has been issued for St. Clair County, including Pell City and Moody, by the National Weather Service (NWS) in Birmingham, AL, effective immediately. Tropical storm-force winds are expected within the next 36 hours, with peak winds forecast at 25-35 mph and gusts up to 50 mph.

Residents should act now to complete preparations. Efforts to protect property, such as securing loose outdoor objects, should be underway. Limited wind damage is possible, including damage to porches, awnings, and carports, as well as broken tree limbs and potential power outages. Hazardous driving conditions are expected on bridges and elevated roadways.

A Flood Watch is also in effect for St. Clair County. NWS Birmingham forecasts 1-3 inches of rain, with locally higher amounts, leading to potential moderate flooding. Emergency plans should include the possibility of moderate flooding, which may prompt evacuations and rescues. Rivers and tributaries could overflow, and floodwaters may enter structures. Heed any flood watches and warnings.

The tornado threat remains low, with tornadoes not expected at this time. This warning was issued on October 9 at 10:17 AM CDT and is effective until 6:30 PM UTC on October 9, 2026. For more information and preparedness resources, visit ready.gov/hurricanes.
