Pasco County residents facing potential flooding from heavy rains can access two 24/7 self-serve sandbag stations. The locations are Pasco County Public Works (C-Barn) at 30908 Warder Road in San Antonio and Magnolia Valley Golf Course at 7223 Massachusetts Avenue in New Port Richey.
The stations are open to all Pasco County residents and are stocked daily with sand and sandbags, weather permitting. Residents must bring their own shovels and fill the bags themselves.
The county urges residents to practice flood safety by adhering to the "Turn Around, Don't Drown!" campaign. This campaign advises avoiding flooded areas and never attempting to cross streams or flooded roads, especially in low visibility conditions.
Standing water also increases the risk of mosquito-borne illnesses like dengue fever. Residents can reduce this risk by regularly draining outdoor containers, emptying and refilling pet water bowls and birdbaths, clearing yard debris that collects water, and ensuring gutters and drains are clear.
