Campaign Signs & Advertising The following information is an overview of the regulations governing political signage.A permit is not required for campaign signs in Ormond Beach. Political signs are treated as temporary non-commercial signs in the City’s Land Development Code. The City does not answer legal questions regarding HOA rights and responsibilities. The City does not regulate the leaving of non-commercial campaign literature on private property due to 1st amendment rights. If a property owner does not want solicitations of any kind, they need to post a “no trespassing” sign on the property. If people continue after warning, it can be considered a trespass. Political signs may not be placed on or over any public property or public right-of-way. Any sign placed on any public property or public right-of-way shall be subject to immediate removal. In all other cases, the City shall provide notice of such violation to the campaign as applicable. Campaign Advertising Packet Sign Removal All political signs which relate to the election of a candidate or to an issue decided at a referendum, must be removed by the permittee no later than 7 days following the election at which the candidate was duly elected to office or defeated.
