Saline County Court Police Leaders Honored with Patriot Award for Supporting Military Service Members
July 2, 2026FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASESaline County Court Police Leaders Receive Patriot AwardSALINE COUNTY, AR — Saline County Court Police Chief James Harris and Assistant Chief Bud Fleming were recognized Monday with the Patriot Award from the Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve (ESGR) for their outstanding support of employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve.The awards were presented by ESGR volunteer COL (Ret.) Tom Anderson. Chief Harris and Assistant Chief Fleming were nominated by Saline County Court Police Bailiff Aaron Sample, who serves in the United States Navy Reserve.The Patriot Award recognizes supervisors and leaders who make exceptional efforts to support citizen-service members through flexibility, understanding, and encouragement as they balance military service with their civilian careers.In addition to receiving the Patriot Award and ESGR dual flag lapel pins, the ceremony also marked another significant milestone as Saline County signed the ESGR Statement of Support for the Guard and Reserve. By signing the Statement of Support, Saline County formally pledged to: Recognize and support employees serving in the National Guard and Reserve. Comply with the Uniformed Services Employment and Reemployment Rights Act (USERRA). Equip supervisors with the resources needed to effectively support service members. Value the leadership, skills, and experience Guard and Reserve members bring to the workplace. Continue supporting service members and their families during times of peace, crisis, and war. The signed Statement of Support will be prominently displayed inside the Saline County Courthouse as a visible reminder of the county's commitment to those who serve.The ceremony was attended by Saline County Judge Matt Brumley, Circuit Judge Josh Farmer, Circuit Judge Ken Casady, Circuit Clerk Myka Bono Sample, County Clerk Doug Curtis, along with courthouse employees, family members, and friends.The ceremony carried added significance as it took place just five days before the United States celebrates the 250th anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence, honoring both the nation's history and the continued service of the men and women who defend its freedoms.Chief Harris and Assistant Chief Fleming's recognition, along with Saline County's commitment through the Statement of Support, reflects the county's continued appreciation for the sacrifices made by members of the National Guard and Reserve and their families.From Left to Right: Court Police Bailiff Aaron Sample, Chief Court Police James Harris, Tom Anderson Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve, Assistant Chief Court Police Bud Fleming.
