Troy University Student Wins ADDY for POTS Awareness Video
Ileana Lampon, a graphic design student at Troy University, won a regional silver ADDY award for a stop-motion video about Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome, a condition that affects her sister.
Lampon created "POTS: Got Salt" in Professor Chris Stagl's Motion Graphics course. The video explains how people with POTS, an autonomic nervous system disorder that causes rapid heart rate when standing, often need increased salt intake to manage symptoms.
"The time involved was probably more than I have spent on any other project, but the results were worth it," Lampon said.
She earned gold at the local competition in February before advancing to regionals. Stagl said the project's detail and craftsmanship set it apart. "The intense time it takes and the dedication to the craft can be seen in the final video," he said.
Lampon will compete at the national American Advertising Awards in May in Austin, Texas. The competition draws more than 25,000 entries annually across design, illustration, photography, video and motion graphics.
